Senegal police have reportedly detained 35 suspected Nigerian sex workers for engaging in activities without a license.
An Anglican missionary, Agazue Bennet, residing in Senegal, shared this information via Twitter on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.
The women were apprehended on Monday at Ngor beach for their alleged involvement in sex work without the required operational license.
They were presented before a Senegal court the following morning.
In Senegal, prostitution is legal and regulated. However, sex workers must be at least 21 years old, register with the police, undergo compulsory sexual health screenings, test negative for STIs and carry a valid ID card confirming their health status.
