Chase Wyatt Newman, 15, will be laid to rest in Quaker Cemetery after a funeral service at First Baptist Church in Camden on Thursday at 3 p.m.
The services will be officiated by the Revs. Joe Stines and Bryan Plyer. Before the ceremony, the family will host guests in the church fellowship hall from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Donations to the Boykin Spaniel Foundation may be offered in place of floral tributes.

On May 5, 2023, Chase went to be with our Lord. He was the son of Melissa Wilson Branham and Shane Newman, both of Columbia, South Carolina. Chase attended Camden High School and played golf for the school. Additionally, he belonged to the Camden Country Club and the Pleasant Hill Hunt Club.
Chase’s presence illuminated every space. He truly was a blessing to everyone he encountered. He cherished his dog Millie the Boykin Spaniel, his friends, and family. He loved snow skiing, baseball, golf, fishing, and hunting.
Surviving are his mother, Melissa Branham (Gene) of Lugoff; father, Shane Newman (Amanda) of Camden; siblings, Cadence Newman, Griffin Branham, Gage Branham, Madelynn Henderson, Mark Wayne Henderson III, Scarlett Henderson; paternal grandmothers, Jan Greathouse (Donny), Joyce Newman; maternal grandfather, Louis Wilson, Jr. (Crystal); maternal grandmother, Angie Wilson; maternal great grandmother, Thedus Shealy and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Grandfather Larry Newman, his paternal grandfather, died before him.
