Erick Rowan was released from WWE during the company’s April 15th cutbacks. Those releases extended throughout every department throughout WWE, and a few Superstars were cut as well. If you ask Eric Bischoff, WWE made a huge mistake.
While speaking to Riju Dasgupta, Eric Bischoff said that Erick Rowan was someone he saw great potential in. He liked working with Rowan because he was ready to learn.
“Erick Rowan was somebody who I thought had a lot of potential when I was in WWE. And Erick could have developed a great promo.
“I worked with him, you know, a few times, maybe three or four times, helping him work on his promo, you know, right before he went out on a live show, and he listened very carefully, and he processed everything very carefully. He really focused and put a lot of thought into it.”
Bischoff also gave Rowan credit for “focuses and listens” as he tries to “absorb the information.” We’ll have to see where Rowan ends up next, but his name is Erick Redbeard now since his WWE departure.
Redbeard showed up on AEW television as part of Brodie Lee’s Celebration of Life. That was one-time deal for now as he paid tribute to his long-time friend and tag team partner.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
